- Configure viewing and editing permissions on a dashboard
- Share filters with gadgets
Share a dashboard
If you create a dashboard, you can share it with your team. This will allow others to view all of the gadgets on your dashboard and the information populated by the gadgets. Users can only view dashboards that have been shared with them. However, what appears on the dashboards might differ for each user since the data displayed is connected with filters. Users can’t change the shared dashboard.
To share a dashboard:
- In the sidebar, select Dashboards.
- Select your dashboard if it's in recent or starred, or select View all dashboards and locate your dashboard.
- In the upper-right of the dashboard, select More actions (represented by •••), then Rename or share.
- Edit the Viewers and Editors settings, then select Save.
👇 In the example below, the dashboard is shared with everyone in the organization. The Game Software Development Team also has editing permissions. Members of the team should be able to see the dashboard now.
The person setting up the share must have the Create Shared Objects global permission.
Find shared dashboards
All shared dashboards can be accessed through the Dashboards overview. You can search for shared dashboards using either the free text search or one of the available dropdown menus. You can also sort the list by different criteria by clicking on the column headers.
To find a shared dashboard:
- In the sidebar, select Dashboards.
- Select View all dashboards.
- Enter your search criteria into the search field, or filter the list by owner, project, or group.
👇 Here’s an example of the Dashboards overview.
Share filters with gadgets
Some gadgets use filters as their data source. The filters must be shared so that users can view the information in these gadgets on a shared dashboard.
👉 For example: Alana added the Jira Work Items Calendar gadget to her shared dashboard. This gadget uses a project or a saved filter as the basis for the graph. In order for Alana’s team to see the data in the Jira Work Items Calendar, she must share the saved filter with them.
👇 Click through the tabs below to see how to share filters.
A filter must be created before you can add it to a gadget.
To create a filter:
- From the sidebar, select Filters, then View all filters.
- Select Create filter.
- Enter your filter criteria in the Search bar and select Save filter.
- Enter a name, description, and permissions for your filter and select Save.
