Can you change a space’s homepage?
You can define a space’s homepage. The homepage of your Confluence space is the first thing users see when they enter the space. Confluence has a default homepage, where you see activity, resume work, access the space directory, and more. Alternatively, you can manually set the space overview page as the homepage for your users. Setting up a well-organized and informative homepage can significantly enhance the user experience.
To set a new homepage for your space:
- Select the ••• (three dots) next to the Space name in the left panel.
- Select Space settings from the pop out.
- Select Space details from the Space admin menus in the left panel.
- Select More details dropdown to expand the page.
- In the Home content field, enter the page's title to use and select it from the list.
- Select Save.
Navigate back to the space overview to ensure the new homepage is set correctly and displays as intended.

Enhance navigation with shortcuts.
Shortcuts in Confluence allow you to quickly access essential pages, external links, or resources directly from the space sidebar. This can significantly improve navigation and efficiency for your team.
To create and manage shortcuts:
- Navigate to the space where you want to add shortcuts.
- Shortcuts appears in the space's sidebar.
- Select the + (Add shortcut) button next to Shortcuts. A pop-out will appear, allowing you to configure the new shortcut.
- Search or paste link: Enter the URL of the page or resource you want to link to. This can be an internal Confluence page or an external link.
- Display text (optional): Enter a name for the shortcut. This is the text that will appear in the sidebar.
- Select Insert to save the new shortcut. The shortcut will now appear in the space sidebar under the Shortcuts section.
- Drag and drop shortcuts to reorder them in the sidebar.
- To edit or delete a shortcut, select the More Actions (represented by •••) next to the shortcut and select the appropriate action.

Add headers and footers to fit your needs.
Customizing the layout of your Confluence space can help you create a more organized and visually appealing environment for your team. One way to achieve this is by adding a header and footer to your space pages.
To add headers and footers:
- Select the ••• (three dots) next to the Space name in the left panel.
- Select Space settings from the pop out.
- Select Layout from the Look and field menu in the left panel.
- Here, you can add your headers and footers to the Header and Footer fields. You must use Confluence wiki markup to add text, links, macros, and images.

Change your space's theme.
Themes in Confluence allow you to change the overall appearance of your space, providing a unique look and feel that aligns with your team's branding or preferences. As a Confluence space admin, you can only choose from the themes enabled by your Confluence admin.
If you need more control over the look and feel of your space as a Confluence space admin, consider collaborating with your Confluence admin.
Here’s how you can modify the theme of your Confluence space using the space settings:
- Select the ••• (three dots) next to the Space name in the left panel.
- Select Space settings from the pop out to navigate to the space settings of the space you want to customize.
- Select Themes from the Look and field menu in the left panel.
- The current theme shows in the Current Theme section. Below that, in the Choose New Theme section, you see a list of available themes. These may include the default Confluence theme and any additional themes that have been enabled by your Confluence admin. Browse through the themes and select the one that best fits your space’s needs, then select the theme you want to apply.
- Select Change theme to set the selected theme for your space.
Navigate back to your space to ensure that the new theme is applied correctly and that the appearance is as expected. Check various pages within the space to confirm that the theme is consistent throughout.
