Customize your space’s key.
When you create a new space, Confluence generates a unique identifier called a space key. The space key is used to identify the space. It is contained in the space's URL, and you can use it to search and filter content as well as in macros. In the above example, the space key for the Human Resources space is “HR.”
You can accept the key Confluence suggests or enter your own to make it more memorable.
If you choose your own, the key:
- Must be unique
- Can contain any alphanumeric character (a-z, 0-9)
- Can be up to 255 characters long
You can use the key in the URL to navigate directly to the space.
👉 For example: http://<your_site>/display/HR.
Enable or disable space features.
On the Configure your collaboration space, you can determine which features, content, and sections are available in a space. The default settings for these features depend on what you selected as the page's purpose, but you can change them as you like here.
You can also change these settings.
- Access the space menu by selecting ••• next to the space name in the sidebar.
- Select Space settings from the pop-out.
- Expand General menu in the sidebar and select Features to enable or disable the available feature toggles.
👇The Edit sidebar settings contain all of the toggles for enabling features in a space.
👇Watch the video to see how to create a space.
How do you customize a space after creating it?
You can modify your space by using the space settings. Once you’ve created your space, you’ll land in the space overview. This is where you can let people in your organization know what your space is for and who uses it. Using Space settings, you can also change the space overview, customize your space, modify it, or enable or disable features.
Space settings in Confluence provide space admins with tools to manage and customize the functionality and appearance of their spaces. These settings allow admins to configure essential aspects such as:
- Setting permissions, this ensures the right users can view or edit content.
- Customizing the space's look and feel, including changing a space's theme, color scheme, or logo.
- Enable the organization and management of content through features like page trees, templates, labels, and avatars and content statuses.
- Managing content lifecycle with tools for archiving, restricting, or deleting pages.
